Sometimes I get lucky with the light, and sometimes I get lucky with a beautiful and photogenic family. And every once in a while, I get to photograph a wonderful family in some utterly scrumptious autumn sunshine. This morning was one of those times, and man did I luck out on both counts! If anyone deserves to get photos with gorgeous light and fall foliage, it's the Cohns. Julie and Steven are an amazing couple, and their boys are some of the sweetest, most adorable kids I've ever known.
It was SUCH an amazing session that all I want to do is run out tomorrow and do another one! (Seriously guys, same time same place next weekend?)
Last week I had the honor of photographing the annual gala of an amazing charity. CASA-NYC (Court Appointed Special Advocates) provides volunteer attorneys who advocate on behalf of children in New York City's foster care system. They serve a vital role for a uniquely vulnerable group of youth, providing voices for children in courtrooms and helping them get the services they need.
It was a wonderful event, with inspiring speakers and a great silent auction. I heard later that they raised a huge amount of money for this worthy charity, and I'm proud to have been a part of it.
Earlier this summer, I had the amazing opportunity to photograph my friend Sharon's bridal shower and henna party. Sharon and her then-fiance, Ryan, are an incredibly sweet, accomplished couple. As of the henna party, they had recently returned from a year in Israel, where Ryan completed his M.D. and Sharon clerked for the Israeli Supreme Court.
Sharon comes from a big, loving Persian Jewish family, and her event was a mix of American and Persian traditions to celebrate brides-to-be. There was lots of food (of course) as well as a classic tea party theme and a henna artist. After a delicious dinner served on the beautiful patio of Sharon's parents' house, there was traditional Persian dancing and a henna ceremony.
It was a beautiful event, full of laughter and love and dancing and food. I wish Sharon and Ryan (who got married in the time it took me to post these photos) all the best in their life together.
This conversation was about high heels, I swear...
Last weekend I photographed this amazing couple and their three adorable boys on a beautiful late summer day. We started out at their home in Millburn, then walked to a lovely nearby park. There was smiling, running, jumping, and a fair amount of tickling. What a wonderful afternoon!
This August, my grandfather Abe Curzer turned 100. That's right, he was born in 1914. We threw him a party, where he had a wonderful time and gracefully entertained all his friends. What an amazing person!
He received a letter from the White House congratulating him on his birthday:
